This research line is focus on the assessment of coral reef fishes in areas of interest in Cuba. This allows both to identify the effectiveness of protected areas and to propose management and conservation strategies in those with unfavorable fish status. As part of this research line, fish biodiversity studies have being developed in areas lacked of scientific information about this key group, including coral reef, seagrass bed and mangrove habitats. Additionally, the diet composition of the alien species Pterois volitans have being analyzed, in areas where their impact is unknown.
